ARKANSASDATE: MAY 2, 2017
WHEREAS: Cove Creek Pearson Fire Chief Doug Deckard was killed in the line of duty on April 30, 2017, while monitoring water lines on Arkansas Highway 25 during a severe thunderstorm. Deckard was struck by a vehicle and passed away as a result; and

WHEREAS: Deckard was a devoted and brave firefighter for over four decades. He also served his community as Cleburne County Search and Rescue Team Coordinator and was active in other local positions; and

WHEREAS: Deckard had a heart for service, and he was consistently helping others around him; and

WHEREAS: Deckard demonstrated a lifetime of public service through his selfless nature and his years of commitment to Cleburne County and to Arkansas. His leadership and diligence to provide protection for citizens speaks to his strong character and compassion for his fellow man. Deckard will be remembered and cherished for his meaningful life;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ASA HUTCHINSON, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, in tribute to the memory of the Fire Chief Doug Deckard and as an expression of public sorrow, do hereby direct that the state flag of Arkansas be flown at half-staff from May 1st, 2017 to the day of interment.

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder has ordered U.S. and Michigan flags to be lowered to half-staff Tuesday, May 2, on all state buildings and within the state Capitol complex in honor of fallen Staff Sgt. Brandon M. Bosley of the United States Air Force, who died Friday, April 21.

Gov. Roy Cooper today confirmed all North Carolina flags at state facilities should remain lowered to half-staff in tribute to Sgt. Meggan Lee Callahan, who was killed last week while at work at Bertie Correctional Institution. Flags should be returned to full-staff at sunset on Thursday. Callahan had served with the N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper today ordered all North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered immediately to half-staff in tribute to Sgt. Megan Lee Callahan, who was killed Wednesday while at work at Bertie Correctional Institution.  Flags should be returned to full staff at sunset on Friday. Callahan had served with the N.C. Friday, April 14, 2017 - Governor Tom Wolf has ordered the commonwealth flag to fly at half-staff throughout Pennsylvania to honor Dan Rooney, long-time owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and former United States Ambassador to Ireland.

"Mr. Rooney was truly loyal and dedicated to the tremendous organization he built and the city and country that he loved," Governor Wolf said. MONTANADATE: APRIL 12, 2017
I hereby order all flags flown in the state of Montana to be flown at half-staff on Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 to honor former Justice of the Montana Supreme Court, John Sheehy, who passed away on April 7th, 2017.

Justice John Sheehy was a fearless champion of Montanans' rights and fought to protect our Montana values throughout his entire life. Born and raised in Butte, he learned the values of hard work, respect, and keeping your word. John Sheehy was elected in 1959 to the Montana Legislature and then served three terms on the Montana Supreme Court before his retirement in 1991. His life was dedicated to serving the people of our state and his values of service carry on with his eleven children.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In accordance with a Presidential Proclamation, Governor Gina M. Raimondo has ordered U.S. flags to be lowered until sunset on April 6, 2017 in honor of former U.S. Senator and astronaut John Glenn. Rhode Island flags will remain at half-staff until sunrise on Monday, April 10, 2017 in honor of former Rhode Island Senate President Pro Tempore William A. Walaska.  

"John Glenn will be remembered as a national hero and true public servant," Raimondo said in December after his death. "His life and career taught a nation that even the impossible is attainable when we work together. His contributions have solidified America's place as a leader in science and technology, as well as inspired millions."

Raimondo also asks Rhode Islanders to lower their flags as a mark of respect.

Governor Matthew H. Mead, pursuant to his authority as Governor of Wyoming, has ordered both the U.S. and State of Wyoming flag be flown at half-staff in honor of former State and U.S. Representative John Wold from sunrise to sunset statewide on Monday, March 13, 2017. Mr. Wold served in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 1957-59 and the U.S. House of Representatives from 1969-71.

TEXASDATE : JANUARY 25,2017
Former U.S. Navy Captain Gene Cernan passed away on January 16, 2017. As an astronaut, Captain Cernan played an important role in the exploration of space and in the development of the aerospace industry in Texas. He was the last man to set foot on the moon and his final resting place will be in the Texas State Cemetery. As such, it seems fitting that flags in Texas should be flown at half-staff on the day of his interment.

PIERRE, S.D. – Flags at the State Capitol will fly at half-staff on Saturday, Jan. 21, to honor the life of former legislator Kenneth George “Kenny” McNenny of Sturgis, who passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 17. McNenny, 81, represented the Meade County area in the state House from 1987 to 2000 and state Senate from 2005 to 2008. McNenny served as majority whip from 1997 to 2000.

ARIZONA

Governor Ducey has ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, January 17th, for the interment of Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Lance Corporal Jose F. "Jojo" Jimenez.

 

Lance Corporal Jimenez was killed in action in Vietnam for actions that earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor.  Originally buried in Mexico, his remains will be moved to Arizona and he will be interred next to his mother. His family had settled in Arizona after coming to the United States when he was a young child. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968 and received the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously for his indomitable courage, aggressive fighting spirit and unfaltering devotion to duty, which upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of the United States Naval Service.

 

Businesses, individuals, and other organizations are encouraged to participate in this tribute.

Governor Inslee is deeply saddened by the death of Tacoma Police Officer Reginald "Jake" Gutierrez, 45, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Friday, December 9, 2016. Officer Gutierrez was killed in the line of duty on Wednesday, November 30.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on December 9, 2016.  Please notify your staff and all of your field offices and facilities around the state.  Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma. Governor Ducey has ordered that flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, November 7, in honor of  Staff Sergeant Kevin J. McEnroe, of Tucson, Arizona, who died on November 4, 2016, in Jafr, Jordan, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.  According to initial reports, Staff Sergeant McEnroe died of injuries sustained from small arms fire.


The Governor will again order flags at all state buildings lowered to half-staff on the day of Staff Sergeant McEnroe's interment. Arrangements are still pending and will be communicated as soon as possible.

Prior to being a member of the Senate, he represented the 48th Legislative District from 1971-1976 in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Former Representative Robert "Bob" Belfanti, 68, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016. He represented the 107th Legislative District from 1979 to 2010 in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Flags shall remain at half-staff until sunset on Friday, November 4, 2016.

Governor Pat McCrory ordered all North Carolina flags to be immediately lowered to half-staff on all state facilities in honor of North Carolina Representative Paul Luebke. Representative Luebke represented Durham County for 25 years in House District 30. Luebke died at the age of 70 after a battle with lymphoma.
